2013 Beauty Favorites!

As we approach the New Year, I'd like to share to you the products I've been loving for 2013. While most of it are new (about a month or two) in my collection, I consider them worthy to be included in this post. Enjoy!

Lorac Pro Palette. This is my favorite eye shadow palette. Nothing I own can compare to how buttery they are. When I first tested this out, I was in awe! I love that it has a good number of matte shadows which makes it very versatile. The packaging is lightweight and compact which easily becomes my go-to palette when I'm travelling.

Bobbi Brown Customized Eye Shadow Palette. My mom was actually the one who picked the colors for me. She did a good job in combining mattes, shimmers, and washes. I love this palette because of her picks! It has all the basics I need plus the packaging looks really sleek. In addition, Bobbi Brown is very generous with the size of these shadows.

MAC Painterly Paint Pot. For eye shadow bases, I love my Painterly. I use it either as a primer or just on its own to even out the color of my lids.

Bobbi Brown BBU Palette. I can't stop looking at this palette! I am so in love with this. It houses all the Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer shades and on the other side (not shown) are all of their foundation stick shades. I mainly use this to contour and highlight my face since it has all the shades I need in it. I love how compact it is and just... EVERYTHING!

Bobbi Brown Corrector. This is my holy grail product. Whenever someone would ask me what's the best product to hide dark under eye circles, I would 100% recommend this. It is so creamy and the peachy shade does very well to counteract darkness under my eyes. Just recently I noticed the pan peeking through and it was a bitter-sweet moment for me. Bitter because it's not exactly affordable, and sweet because it has been a long time since I have hit pan on anything!

Shiseido Powder Foundation. I know Shiseido has different product ranges for their powder foundation and I can't remember what this is because I've had it for years now; I think since college. I've recently rediscovered this and forgot how good it was until I used it again. It was mattifying but does not make you look dead. I plan on using this more often so I can finally finish this up and buy a refill.

Tarte Exposed. I am a major blush junkie but nothing beats this blush as an everyday shade. Most of my blushes have some form of shimmer on them and most days I don't feel like having shimmer on my face which is why I love Exposed so much. It gives off a natural mauvish color which I am obsessed with. I haven't tested out the 12-hour claim but this really does stay on for hours.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles. If you've been following my earlier posts, this won't come as a surprise to you. Seriously, I love ALL of my meteorites! I can't explain it. It's very subtle, you can barely see it unless you come really close. But when you look at yourself in the mirror, there's just this glow that you can't pinpoint. It is luxurious and the packaging always blows me away, specially with limited edition ones.

Makeup Factory Eye Brow Powder. This year I have discovered the brow product that changed my life. I know that sounds so dramatic but I've had so many brow products I've tried out and it just doesn't cut it. I first discovered this when my mom left her kit on my vanity. And curious as I always am, I tried it out. I was so amazed that I immediately took a bath, got dressed and went to SM to get my own stash. Haha. It was that good. With this you don't have to take a damp brush because it is very pigmented. And I like that it has 2 shades in it so I can mix it to match my hair.

Benefit Gimme Brow. Although I don't use this as much, this is my favorite eye brow gel. I've already blogged about this product so head on over to that post to find out why I love this!

These lipsticks are my top picks for the year. I've been on a nude and MLBB lipstick kick for the past few months and I've found some of my favorites this year in the YSL Rouge Voluptes, Rouge Pur Cotoure, and Too Faced La Cremes. They are all pigmented, doesn't suck out all the moisture on my lips, and looks great against my skin tone. These lipsticks have been much raved about and I'm so happy I joined the bandwagon because they are really worth it.

MAC 217. I think it is safe to say that this is everybody's favorite blending brush. As they say, it is dupable but can never be replaced. So far I've only tried Sigma's version of the blending brush but the MAC 217 is just better in my opinion.

Sigma Precision Brush. I love using this brush to apply my eye shadow bases and for blending out cream products in general. It is very dense and soft and the weight of the handle is just right.

Guerlain Kabuki Brush. I use this mainly to apply my bronzer. It looks huge and this is the biggest brush I own but I love it. I haven't noticed it shed and it feels great against my skin.

Shu Uemura Blush Brush. I used to prefer an angled brush to apply my blushes but since I've used this, it has changed my preference. I have a MAC one that is a bit similar to this but the Shu Uemura blush brush is just different. It's lightweight and is ergonomically easier to apply blush. I plan on getting the regular sized one and discovering more Shu Uemura brushes.

NARS Contour Brush. I know this brush has a fancy name but I forgot what it is so I'm just calling this my contour brush. I use this to define my cheek bones and the sides of my nose. The shape makes it easier plus it looks so cool!

Tom Ford Cheek Brush. This is so fluffy! I first thought it was going to be too big for my face but I loved it from the very first time I used it. The hair feels so luxurious on my skin and the shape is perfect for a quick sweep on the cheeks since it covers the right area.

xxxxxxx

There you go guys, my year ender favorites! I am so excited for 2014 because new year means new makeup. LOL. Just kidding. I'm letting my hoarder tendencies get in the way again. But seriously, I'll never get tired of makeup because there is always something new and that there is always something out there in the market waiting to be discovered.

Wishing you all the luck for the upcoming year!

The Quirky Lippy Travels: Singapore Beauty Haul!

I am so excited to share to you the makeup craziness I picked up at SG! I have been itching to use them but I needed to take pictures of it for the blog first. #bloggerduties. :) A little disclaimer: I am not in any way bragging the things I bought. I just thought it's fun sharing stuff like this because I love looking at hauls from other beauty bloggers too :)

Clarisonic Mia 2
As my mom and I were walking at the Marina Bay shoppes, we saw Sephora and it felt like the heavens just opened its gates. I was so excited! As was my mom. I've apparently infected my mom with my makeup addiction.

I got the Clarisonic Mia 2 in the color white. The Sephora lady told me that this was the newest Clarisonic. I've been curious about this and I wanted to try it out because I wanted to see it's effectiveness in exfoliating. It was quite pricey though. I got this at about $200.00 (Singaporean). I'm about to find out if it's worth the splurge.

Clockwise from left: Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow #20, Urban Decay Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Bioderma Sensibio, Caudalie Beauty Elixir, Shu Uemura Hard 9 Eyebrow Pencil, Benefit Gimme Brow
I got all these from Sephora too except for the Bioderma which I found at a store called Guardian. It's like a Watson's here in the Philippines; and the Shu Uemura pencil which I bought at ION mall. I'm most excited to try out the Caudalie Beauty Elixir since all my favorite Youtube beauty gurus have been raving about this.

The Bioderma has been so in demand in the Philippines and have been flying off the racks from online stores that I actually don't want to place an order and wait for it. I don't have that much patience. The excitement will kill me! Haha. I was happily surprised I found this at Singapore! :)

The Shu Uemura pencil has always been my holy grail eyebrow product so I decided to buy a back up. And since I'm obsessed with Cheska Garcia-Kramer's brows, I decided to get the MUFE Aqua Brow.

Too Faced La Creme Lipsticks (L to R) in Cinnamon Kiss, Sweet Maple, Naughty Nude, Spice Spice Baby
I've heard so many good things about the Too Faced La Creme lipsticks. Not to mention the lovely swatches made by beauty bloggers. When I first saw this online I knew I had to get it. There are lots of MLBB shades and those are my type! Which explains why I got mostly nude colors. Also because I had too much reds, bright pinks, and oranges in my arsenal. These would be a great addition to my collection :)

Tom Ford Lip Color Shine #07 Nubile, Cheek Color in #01 Love Lust (left) and #05 Ravish (right), Eye Color Quad in #05 Silvered Topaz, Cheek Brush
This is probably the most I've spent in makeup in just one day. The Tom Ford makeup line is incredibly expensive! I went to Tangs in Orchard Road. It's like a department store full of high end and luxury makeup brands, among others. And the Tom Ford counter was what I went to first as I entered the store, trying hard not to get distracted by the other brands. I was so happy I got most of my Christmas wish list! I've been drooling over this makeup since I first heard about it. I would love to get more from this brand but then I wouldn't have enough money to try out other brands available at the store. Their blushes were around 70.00 SGD and the eyeshadow quad was at 100.00 SGD. Dayuum! Don't even get me started with the brush. Good thing Singapore offers tax rebates to their tourists.

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder in #20 and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in #20 Beige
Next up was Chanel. I only got two items from them (although I wanted more). The Vitalumiere foundation has been in my wishlist from the previous year and it's only now that I got the chance to buy it. I'm excited to try this out since it's a lightweight foundation.

There's something you guys should know about me. After every makeup shopping I do, I sit on the bed and one by one stare at all the things I bought. And it makes me smile. Please don't think I'm weird. Haha. And as I was sitting there on my bed at the hotel, I noticed my Les Beiges compact made this rattling sound. I think there was a glitch in the packaging. Ugh! Y'all know how O.C. we are when it comes to our packaging. I did not get to return it though because I was too lazy and my legs were hurting from all the walking I did :(

Guerlain Crazy Pearls Meteorites
You know what it is. If you haven't seen my previous post about meteorites, then let me tell you now. I AM OBSESSED. And I'm specially obsessed when they come out with limited edition ones! This is for their Holiday 2013 collection. Isn't it beautiful?! Too bad the pressed powder was sold out :(

L to R: YSL Le Teint Touch Eclat Foundation, Parisian Nite Rue de Babylone Blush, Rouge Pur Couture #66, Touche Eclat Radiant Touch #3.5,  Rouge Volupte #3
As I'm writing this and inserting the photo, I realized how much makeup I bought. Lol. Anway, let us take a moment and appreciate the limited edition blush were seeing in the photo above. Isn't it a class of its own? Love! I wish YSL included a velvet pouch for this though. It's too beautiful not to have it's little cocoon. I can't wait to take makeup porn-ish photos of this beauty. :)

The Le Teint Touch Eclat liquid foundation is on my must buy list but for some reason I did not buy it when I saw it at the counter. My mom ended up getting one for herself because she was in a search for a good foundation. And then she saw their newest liquid foundation which was the Youth Liberator and she ended up giving her touche eclat foundation to me. Yeyyyy!

When you're makeup shopping, never be too shy to ask for samples. I know I'm not. I love freebies! <3 Yes, everything in the photo above are freebies, even the perfume! You see? It won't hurt to ask. :)

I'm sorry for drowning you with all these pictures. I had so much fun shopping at Singapore. Most specially because the brands there are not available in the Philippines. I wish they could bring those brands to our country. I would also like to mention that the ladies at the makeup counters are actually very friendly. It was easy communicating with them since most Singaporeans are quite fluent in english. And what made it more pleasant was that some of the ladies at the counters there were Filipino's. It's always nice to bump into our kababayan. :)

If you're a makeup-holic like me, and you're planning to go to SG, here are the top places you should go to:

1. TANGS, Orchard Road
2. Tagashimaya, Orchard Road
3. Sephora, Marina Bay Shoppes and Paragon Mall
4. Robinsons, Orchard Road

Have fun shopping! :)

Beauty Blab: Why I love Guerlain Meteorites Perles

I feel so sick today. I've been trying to work out lately and I feel proud of myself; :D Then comes the body pain.. suddenly I don't feel so proud anymore. lol.

It's a holiday today and I didn't want to waste my time just lying on the bed. I decided to blab (this is not an in-depth review) about one of my favorite makeup stuff, and take lots of pictures of its gloriousness. :D Forgive me for not including pictures of me wearing the product, I feel ugly today. Haha.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles in 01 Teint Rose
Don't it just wanna make you eat it? I first discovered this product from my friend. When she whooped it out of her purse I was instantly attracted to it's packaging. At first I did not understand what it's for; that time I didn't know anything about makeup yet. Hers had mostly pink pearls and it was encased in a gold container. I then knew it was something I had to have.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles
Turns out Guerlain makes different variations of this. Mostly limited edition and it usually comes out during their summer and holiday collections. You could just imagine how desperate I get whenever I see ads of their newest ones. Each one is just so freaking attractive. These are the only ones I own, sadly. Haha. I have the permanent Meteorites Perles in Teint Rose, a limited edition Emilio Pucci Perles D' Azur, and a mini teint rose which a friend gave me. :)

Guerlain Meteorites Perles
Basically, these are illuminating powders. The different colored perles has each of its own purpose. For example the greens are supposed to counteract redness on the face. When all these perles are blended, they create a soft focus glow and adapt to the skin. These are incredibly fine. It feels luxurious on the skin.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles
I hope this picture gives justice to this product. I swatched both the teint rose and the Emilio Pucci Meteorites. Beside the heavy swatch is a blended out swatch.
Right: Teint Rose, Left: Perles D' Azur

Can you see how fine that is? I know you can't see that much distinction from the two. The Perles D' Azur give off a slightly peachy pay off. Most Meteorites have very subtle differences. I think one of the reasons why it's popularly collected by makeup enthusiasts is because of the packaging (aside from the luxury of the product). Let's be honest, we women are suckers for that.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles in 01 Teint Rose
Guerlain recommends the Meteorites brush for application. The one I have above is a mini version of that brush. Isn't it cute? The hair is all pink! :) What you have to do is swirl the brush around to blend the colors and you can apply this all over your face or as a highlight.

I wear Guerlain Meteorites Perles almost everyday. It's a staple to my routine. I may not notice that much of an effect when I first apply it but it just gives you this glow. Whenever I have this product on, people compliment me on how glowing my skin looks and they can't even tell what it is.

Lots of makeup brands have dupes of this product. I know Meteorites can be quite expensive but to me it is worth the splurge.

Anyway, I'm done blabbing. I need to go to bed now coz' my head really hurts. I hope you enjoyed this post. <3

xx,

Thea.
